What a fabulous story to start this series with!The characters and story captured me from the very first page and I am so excited to see where it goes from here.
The only complaint I have with this book is the editing, it was horrible. I found in a couple of places in the book that the same pages were repeated, which was certainly confusing. At about midpoint in the book a whole section of the story was missing. I still enjoyed the story and I plan to read the next book in spite of issues in the first one.

I had to purchase this book as it wasn't kindle unlimited. The chapter repeated and it actually cut out the chapter that was suppose to be there leaving the reader confused and not knowing what happened between the two characters. Very disappointed as I really wanted to read it because the first book was so good. (
I enjoyed the storyline very much ,but it does not deserve 5 stars .The very beginning of the story starts out so well , I just knew I was in for a treat .It was "poetic" . Then, I felt as though the author handed over the assignment to their teenager !There were run-on sentences, grammatical errors, wrong words and names . The writing and the story improved , but then "segments of the story "were "missing" .For instance , the trip from New York to New Orleans appeared to be a ten minute ride in a carriage . I feel that two short paragraphs would have helped with the flow of the story ( ie, descrptions of towns , people, length of the trip ). I almost stopped reading the story . I was so baffled by the great beginning of this story that I decided to continue reading ,and I was glad that I did. The sensual moments( I'd rate them an "R") were tastefully written . The humor made me laugh. The sad parts made me cry . The romance was believable .The ending did not disappoint, but I feel that an epilogue would have "finished " the story even though the outcome can easily be guessed .
Good plot. Good interaction between Travis and Brooke. It could have had a few more love scenes. But I really enjoyed the book.
I really enjoyed this novel. It was an easy read, well written and kept me interested the whole way through. I would recommend it to any of my friends who enjoy this genre for sure.
Hysterically funny, nasty people at times, nice southern romance. It could do with a little less description at times but overall, a nice romance.
Plot moved along nicely but had an amazing number of glitches that had me turning pages back and forth to see if I missed something. But no....seems I didn't miss the plot but just got sidetracked by typos, missing sentences, plot errors and lots more strange deviations. However I enjoyed the story so much they only made me chuckle and wonder if the proofreader had been eating funny mushrooms.
A wonderful southern romance. Great mixture of romance, with some action and adventure to give it a kick! I hope you will read this series by Brenda Jernigan, it's fabulous. I look forward to reading book #3, and finally their reunion together. You don't have to read them in any order, they are standalone books. I read book #2 first, then book #1.
